How We Made It

When the pandemic halted in-person training, I led the complete transformation of Global Press Institute’s 16-week reporter program into a fully online experience. Serving as creative director, art director, illustrator, project manager, implementation lead, and product manager, I guided the platform search and selection process, ultimately choosing Brightspace’s D2L. I managed contract negotiation, onboarding, and rollout while developing a fresh brand aesthetic for the site and course materials.

We launched Global Press Institute Online by the end of 2020, achieving a 100% graduation rate in our first cohort. Intermediate and advanced training followed, with a 98% participation rate in 2021. This shift laid the foundation for Global Press’s new 2024 operating model, expanding professional development access for journalists worldwide.

In 2025, Global Press launched a two-year fellowship and multiple certificate programs for journalists worldwide. I directed the creation of all visual collateral, including interactive animations and custom illustrations that shaped the courses’ design, building the end-to-end learning experience through Articulate and Docebo.
